An automatic assembly machine picks and places trays containing multiple injection moulded vials. A servo driven positioning system moves the tray through the machine while filters are precision placed into the vials. The filters are pushed to a pre-determined depth to a tolerance of +/- 0.2mm and checked using a laser measuring device. Any failed parts are removed from the tray before being returned to the operator. The machine in this example is for the assembly of parts for a DNA test kit.
